This is just a basic character made with boxes, rigged and animated. I used my classical animation knowledge to make this guy strut his stuff.

This is a stunning film! I’m not really sure what to make of it to be honest. There’s something dark and primeval about it that makes me feel uncomfortable watching it (particularly the ‘someone’ in the water scene who actually saves the hedgehog).

The Little Island is far from the classical animation Williams later produced. That’s not a criticism and it does not take away from this timeless production. I love the character design and the simplicity of the animation.
